Do you think we can get some benchmarks between Nvidia cards and ATI cards to see how much/little the Nvidia GPU-accelerated Adobe Mercury Playbakc Engine makes?
Man just when you get comfortable with the last version they come out with another and get more money out of you.
I only seem to use CS4 for 3D texture creation/editing, and layer/levels adjustment. I do my painting in Painter. just like my Wacom, as soon as I get it, six months later they come out with the redesigned 21UX that is way cooler with 2048 Pressure sensitivity and the same price :o
With Adobe I usually wait about two and half years before I upgrade:)
RyuGTX? If you are deciding on a new card. I would ask what all do you use it for. A workstation card is best if you do high DPI count images. If you only use it for Photoshop with a Wacom, then it would depend on your motherboard. If it has a Nvidia Chipset go with that or Vise Verse. The Mercury will depend on the integration of the same chipset manufacturer, on how quick the response is. Although, I am sure you wont really notice a difference until you start to get to images above 500DPI/ or you are trying to open 2hour 1080P H264 or higher. If you are using this for 3D work then go for the higher FirePro's or Quadros, one GB or larger and then they can handle the CS stuff with ease. ATI's are cheaper when it comes to price and performance.
If you want to game/ or test games you have to go with the FirePro8700 or higher.
I haven't used it since MX, but it is a great suite. Of course, at those prices, everyone's going to pirate it except for companies and people who do web-design full-time.
I'll just use Gimp, Cinepaint, Inkscape, Bluefish, Kompozer, and Drupal for my playing around.
What part of "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" don't you understand?
I wonder if they will be releasing 64 bit Elements versions of Premiere and Photoshop. Having a machine with 9 GB of ram and software freaking out when it starts using more than 1.7 GB of ram is a downer.
I know what you mean. now i feel like i want the CS5. looks pretty sweet. wish i had waited a lil longer on my master collection. now i would have to pay just a lil bit more to get an upgrade. darn. oh well. i'll give some time and see where the reviews go.
