PCs built for kids aren't all that different from the netbooks and notebooks you and I carry around today. Take the latest PeeWee Power Laptop, for example. This 3.5 pound machine features an Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of memory, a 10.1 inch LCD screen, and a 6-cell battery. It runs on Windows XP, but also has PeeWee Patrol and PeeWee Privacy software to help ensure your kids are safe on the net and don't get into files they shouldn't access. Recognizing that kids and accidents often meet, the laptop also features drop-proof construction and a spill resistant keyboard.

PeeWee PC Announces Availability of New PeeWee Power Laptop

Built for kids ages 4-8 the durable, spill resistant notebook ships with 15 educational games

Miami, FL – March 31, 2010 – PeeWee PC, the leading manufacturer of computer products and accessories for children, is excited to announce the availability of the new PeeWee Power Laptop. The rugged 3.5 pound PeeWee Power features a durable drop-proof construction and spill resistant keyboard, making it the ideal first computer for children aged 4-8. PeeWee PC loads each computer with 15 educational software titles providing the young end users access to different games as they progress from pre-kindergarten into early elementary and finally upper elementary students.

“All PeeWee PC computers are designed with equal parts fun, safety, education and durability.” said Oscar Ferreria, President and Co-Founder of PeeWee PC. “The new Power Laptop meets that criteria and addresses the needs of both the children we strive to empower and their rightfully protective parents.”

PeeWee PC places an emphasis on security and also includes its PeeWee Patrol and PeeWee Privacy software on every computer it builds. PeeWee Patrol provides parents with an aggressive internet watchdog program that both monitors their children’s activity and blocks websites flagged as inappropriate. PeeWee Privacy allows parents to restrict access to certain files and folders on the laptop’s hard drive and enables moms and dads to set time restrictions on how long and when their children are using their computer.

The new PeeWee PC Power Laptop features the Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of memory, a 10.1 inch LCD screen, 6-cell battery, mouse and Windows XP operating system. PeeWee PC offers a 3 year no fault warranty on all its notebooks and provides lifetime technical support. The PeeWee Power Laptop is priced at $499.99 MSRP and is available now at www.peeweepc.com.

LAME! :), I don't see what file you would have on your kids hard drive... If this was meant just for your kids i don't think you would have any inappropriate or important files on there... The time limit thing is cool i guess.

A file on that laptop that you don't want them to access.... Can't think of any right now.

But you would probably have that laptop setup on your home wireless network. And if you got some shared folders, lets say movies with violence or profanity, you wouldn't want your child to access that.

Or it could be that even if a child downloaded something, that security program would block him from opening it.

If you think you can’t do something, you’ll never be able to do it. No matter how easy it is.

Just don't take PEE WEE into a Florida theatre :D

This could be interesting if it is able to replace all those other gadgets that parents have to buy. If kids can have all their education, entertainment, and edutainment all on one unit. This might take off. Then kids might learn how to take care of one product without having to get something new every few months. Also with enough features, it will be just as entertaining, because of the content and not the unit itself. Kinda like how kids are amazed by the Movie you put in and not the TV itself.

That and the files to the security software itself.

My daughter likes the tablet much better, we sent back this clam shell to peewee and got the tablet version from this site: http://kidcomputers.com they had better pricing and much better customer support.

The tablet is here: http://kidcomputers.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=Kids_Tablet_PC if you are interested in getting one for your kiddos.

However I just found out they have a 10.1" screen comming out, I wish I would have waited for that.
