This is not a problem, It's just strange and therefore is bugging me.
I have a Radeon HD 5770, which I've had since November 2009. With my generic branded piece of s**t monitor, the max resolution I could get was 1440 by 900, which I was happy with. Today, after changing nothing, I have woken up to a max resolution of 1600 by 1200, and it works!
Just out of morbid curiosity, how can a new higher resolution suddenly become available over night after doing no kind of update?
I'll be honest with you, I've thought long and hard about this for at least 2 minutes and the only logical explanation I can come to . . . . is gremlins!

Actually, come to think of it, windows did install an update right before this happened. Could a little windows update possibly open a higher resolution for my monitor?
do you have a CRT or LCD?
