I was part of that I guess by buying my 5850. I am really wondering where it's going to go (GPU development). I think it's going to be an interesting year on that front. Nvidia is supposed to release there behemoth sometime in the first 2 quarters I am assuming. If there previous development points to anything I would not doubt ATI will also do so by Q3 at the latest as well.
I understand that Intel's IGP still counts as GPU, but Intel's numbers are skewing the data. An Nvidia vs ATI discrete graphics comparison would be much more interesting to see.
The easy explanation for Intel's marketshare is the surge of netbooks hitting the markets. If AMD's CPU-GPU fusion works out, they'll be grabbing a large portion of that pie from Intel next year.
You can see by this graph why Nvidia pushed for the now ongoing FTC investigation into Intel's IGP practices.
