Starting Monday, you'll be able to pick up the Palm Pre Plus as well as the Palm Pixi Plus from Verizon Wireless. The new Palm Pre Plus will cost $149 and the Palm Pixi Plus will run $99.99. Both prices are after a $100 mail-in rebate and with new two-year customer agreement.

The prices are in-line with previous generations of the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi which are currently available exclusively through Sprint. Verizon Wireless will be the exclusive carrier of the Plus versions, which will require a data plan of $29.95 per month or higher.

The new Plus models offer a few improvements over the original versions. For starters, both phones will double as mobile Wi-Fi hotspots using a downloadable application. Up to five Wi-Fi equipped devices will be able to access the Internet through the phone using Verizon's CDMA 1x EV-DO Rev. A network. In addition, the Pre Plus gets double (512MB) the memory of the original. While the original Pixi didn't have Wi-Fi, the Pixi Plus does.

$30/month data plan? Reminds me of AT&T IPhone plan.

This is a good move for Verizon, their biggest weakness has been the phone selection. If they can convince Apple to give them the Iphone as well, they'll have two of the most popular phones on the market.

They also have a 9.99 data plan, but they don't advertise it. You have to get it on top of your service with anything more than a flat out phone with no other features.
