Eager to get your hands on a new PSPgo, but frustrated by the fact that you spent good money on all those standard PSP accessories that are no longer compatible. Well, Sony's about to make you even more frustrated, as the only way to make them compatible is to spend even more on a new Converter Cable Adapter.

Announced at the Tokyo Game Show this week, the PSPgo adapter enables users of the newest, UMD-free PlayStation Portable handheld to use existing peripherals designed for PSP-1000, 2000 and 3000 series units (those are the older, UMB-enabled devices). It'll ship in Japan in late December for 1,980 yen, though North America, Europe/PAL territories and Asian countries won't see it until early 2010.

In other news, Sony also introduced a new Bluetooth Stereo Headset Receiver, which was engineered to match perfectly with the PSPgo and easily pair with the unit's Bluetooth module. It can be used to stream music, and the onboard buttons enable users to instantly play, stop, pause, forward, rewind, and adjust the volume of music and videos. Additionally, the receiver can be paired with up to eight Bluetooth devices by using the Multi Pairing Feature. This one will be available in Japan in a few months for 4,980 yen, while yet again, those other nations have to wait until January 2010.

Additional peripherals and accessories will be released for PSPgo inconjunction with PSPgo launch in North America to enhance itsportability and convenience, including:

-- AV Cable $19.99 (SRP)

I own a PSP (the original 1000/FAT model) and like it, but I'm not too crazy with where Sony's been taking the product. They should have integrated it with a phone long ago, and not in a form like the crippled Ericsson Aino.

Oh well, I only like it for the homebrew/hackable aspects anyway, so I'm getting off the Sony-train and switching to an OpenPandora.

What part of "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" don't you understand?

The second "P" in "PSP" is becoming less and less relevant...

I also have one, a gift from an uncle who hasn't realized how bad my eyes have gotten; tried to return it to Best Buys and was refused. So now I'm hoping to find another use for it.

Clemsnide:

Just re-gift it.

Someone you know will be able to see it clearly and use it,.......

Is this the first step into making the PSP into a frisbee?

Hello
