Why is it that after I first reformatted my hardrive the max capacity went from 320GB to 298GB. Just curious, lol.

Hard drive are sold as 1000b = 1kb Your computer reads it in binary which is 1024b = 1kb

It's cheap, but just something you have to deal with because it is not going to change. My 500GB drive I have in my laptop only has 466GBs
