Hi,
I'm about to buy a new PC and need some advise.
Here is the configuration of the PC I'm thinking of buying:
Motherboard: BIOSTAR P43-A7, intel P43, FSB1600MHz, Dual DDR2-1600, 12USB, LAN, 6-ch Audio, 3PCI, 4DDR, 6SATAII
Memory: SUPER TALENT 3GB DDR2 - 800MHz PC6400
Hard disk: Western Digital 320GB, 16MB, SATA2, 7200rpm
Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT, 1GB DDR3
Optical device: DVD-RW Sony-Nec-Optiarc AD-5200A
Screen: 19" LCD Philips 190VW9, 8000:1 contrast
Keyboard: Labtec Media black
Mouse: Labtek optical
Case: FRONTIER SH09, LCD, ATX 450W Power Supply
Procesor: Intel Core2Duo E7400, 2.8GHz, 3MB/1066MHz
(this is straight from their web site)
The price is about $779.67
If you can tell me if this is a good configuration for playing the most recent games and probably having programs running in the background like antiviruses etc.
Also is the hardware compatible with each other or will it give me trouble?
Because a while back I bought a PC and later figured that they ripped me off on the RAM. And won't make that mistake again.
Thank in advance.
A few things that are off. I'm not a huge fan of biostar motherboards, but unless your overclocking and stuff is should be fine. The memory. If you have a core2 CPU you generally want either 2 or 4GBs so it runs in dual channel mode. With 3GBs is is running in single channel mode. Basicly just slower memory access. IF you can get 4GBs, but if not the extra GB will help you more than dropping to 2GBs in games. I have a 9600gt in on of my computers and it runs new games well at 1280x1024, but the ATI 4830 and 4770 graphics cards are faster for about the same price. See ifthey want much more for one of those.
Other than that it looks like a good system and a good price.
if it's 2x1gb sticks and 2 x512mb sticks won't it still run in dual channel there Bob.
No.

Just look out for these specifications before finalizing your gaming PC:

Processor -
C2D P8600, P8700, T9600
OS-
Vista home premium / ultimate 64 bit

At least 4GB with DDR3
These I think are important for any gaming computer laptop / desktop.

1GB of memory is wasted on a 9600GT. If you're interested in getting a video card for about $90-$100, then you want to get the Radeon 4830 or Radeon 4850. They only have 512MB at that price point, but they will perform better than the 9600GT virtually every time. I suggest paying a few extra bucks for the 4850, which you can currently get for $95 or $100 on Newegg.
