Acer Introduces Two New Aspire Notebook PCs

Acer announced U.S. availability of the Aspire 3935-6504 and the Aspire 8935 today. The Aspire 3935-6504 is a thin-and-light notebook with a distinctive style. The Aspire 8935 is part of the next generation of large-screen Gemstone notebook PCs.


The Aspire 3935-6504 features a 13.3-inch frameless, widescreen CineCrystal LED display with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. This 16:9 aspect ratio screen also features edge-to-edge LED backlit technology for increased viewability in low-light situations. This notebook measures less than one-inch thick. It’s housed in a golden brown brushed metal chassis and weighs 4.18 pounds.


Focused on styling, the Aspire 3935-6504 incorporates unique design elements such as the Acer FineTip full-size keyboard with large key caps and increased key gaps. The notebook also has touch-sensitive hotkeys for access to frequently used functions as well as a touch sensitive multimedia panel. Two one-touch buttons for backup and SmartPower are also included for convenience. 


Using the Aspire 3935-6504’s Multi-Gesture Touchpad, you can pinch, flick, and swirl your finger across the touchpad for navigation. From the touchpad, you can scroll, zoom in and out, and flip through websites, photos, and documents. When using an external mouse, you can disable the touchpad with a single push of the Touchpad Button.


For increased security, the Aspire 3935-6504 features the Acer Bio-Protection fingerprint reader to help prevent unauthorized access.  The Aspire 3935-6504 comes with Acer Arcade Deluxe featuring Cinema, Album, Music, and HomeMedia; eRecovery Management; Acer Launch Manager; Acer GameZone; Acer Video Conference Manager; Adobe Reader; Adobe Flash Player; Google Toolbar; Google Desktop; McAfee Internet Security Suite; NTI Media Maker; and Microsoft Works 9.0 with Office Home and Student 2007 preinstalled.

Coming in June, the Aspire 8935G is packed with a number of high-end features including an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 graphics card. It will feature up to 500GB of storage capacity and can be made to accommodate dual hard drives for a maximum capacity up to 1TB.


This notebook targets multimedia enthusiasts with its Blu-ray player and edge-to-edge, 18.4-inch HD CineCrystal widescreen 1920x1080 pixel display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The notebook also has Optimized 3rd Generation Dolby Home Theater audio with Acer Tuba CineBass amplifier.


The Aspire Gemstone 8935G has a glossy, sapphire blue Gemstone cover. The notebook features a backlit keyboard and several one-touch buttons for ease of use. Like the Aspire 3935-6504, the Aspire Gemstone 8935G includes a Multi-Gesture Touchpad with TouchPad Lock, Acer PowerSmart Button, and Acer Back-up Button.

$899 for the first one? That should be at least $799.

The second laptop looks decent, I'm expecting $1100 to $1200 dollars based their overpricing of the last one.
