I think you're missing the point. ISPs would love this product because it's a managed solution that doesn't require "easily installed software". Desktop software is a support nightmare and ISPs prefer to sell you online services and/or hardware - this is both.
What NAS setup are you talking about exactly? There's no RAIDs to configure - you simply get a shortcut to a network drive. Besides, I've been using online backup from my desktop and it slows down my machine too much with the hard drive whirring away - something that works off the network will not do that.
I completely disagree with your analysis - the small niche you're talking about is pretty much every home-office user (like me) and small offices or workgroups of 5-6 people that usually either go without backup, or rely on individuals to do their own - and we all know how well that system works....
