ViewSonic Debuts First 24-Inch Widescreen Full HDTV, Ideal for the ‘Other Room’

The VT2430 Enhances Home Entertainment, Offers Full HD 1080p Resolution and Competitive Pricing in Time for the Holidays

WALNUT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of visual display products, today announced the launch of the VT2430, a 24-inch LCD HDTV with full 1080p high-definition performance, delivering precise images for a sharper picture. According to the Consumer Electronics Association, TVs top the lists of what both adults and teens want for the holidays1, and the VT2430 is an affordable option to grant those wishes.

The VT2430 has key features that consumers desire. With high brightness and a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, consumers will have optimal viewing. The integrated ATSC / NTSC / QAM TV tuner and multiple connectivity options, including HDMI 1.3, provide all the inputs necessary for the latest generation game consoles, DVD and Blu-ray players and computers. Its full HD 1920x1080 resolution screen offers consumers an enhanced viewing experience whether watching a movie, playing a video game or doing work on a complex spreadsheet or presentation.
Boasting a true 16:9 aspect ratio and 1920 x 1080 LCD FHD, the VT2430 delivers the ultimate picture resolution in a stylized design and screen size that’s ideal for alternative viewing spaces, including bedrooms, kitchens and offices.

“Home entertainment is now dispersed throughout the house – consumers are beginning to place TVs outside the main family room but still want to enjoy movies and HDTV programming in original widescreen format,” said Jeff Volpe, vice president and general manager of ViewSonic North America. “Backed by 20 years of experience in digital displays, ViewSonic is revolutionizing how consumers are watching TV. The VT2430 will provide the consumer big screen quality on a smaller TV that does not sacrifice picture or clarity anywhere in the home.”
The VT2430 has a $399 MSRP. To learn more about the VT2430 and other ViewSonic LCD TVs, please visit: http://www.viewsonic.com/.

I think it's a good idea, and will compete well with the 32" HD Ready TV's which are around the same price. Although some may argue that 24" is too small for a Full HD experience.

Viewsonic makes some nice displays, but I have never been a fan of the glossy bezels they seem to always use.

size and resolution are dependant on viewing distance. If your looking at it from 10 feet away then I agree 1080p is a waste of money but if it's mounted say in your kitchen or say a laundry room where the viewing distance is relatively close then it's not a bad idea.
