Hey guys, im wondering if any of you can help me with a little problem im having with my GPU fan on my new Gigabite 9800GTX+ 1GB? (you know the one with the zalman cooler) The problem is its running at full speed right from post until i turn my rig off! Now ive tried riva tuner nTune and all thoes assorted apps and all the GPU fan speed controls are either grayed out or non existent!

Now after some searching on google last night I found some people saying that nVidia wasnt supporting GPU fan ajustment in windows Vista with its Forceware drivers??? Does anyone know if this is true? as the card I replaced was a 8800GT and the fan on that card didnt run the funn speed 24/7 with the same set up. Its annoying because one of the main reasons why i replacced it was because the fan on my 8800GT was VERY loud under load!

I was thinking if there wasnt any way to get around this problem then I would mod the fan connector to fit one of my mobo fan jacks and play with the speed through my speed control software in windows or the bios!

My specs are as below, any help would be great! Thanks guys.

Try updating your drivers, downloading the newest version of rivatuner. I have a 9600 that works fine. If all else fails. Contact gigabyte about it. Might have something to do with there fan.

That was one of the first things i did ive got Forceware 180.48 and the latest riva tuner.

Ive modded the fan connector to connect to a mobo fan jumper, its a fix for now at least, it runs thhe fan at 50% which is ALOT quiter and max temp under load is 60-65c so im not gunna complain but I am going to contact Gigabyte.

Thanks Bob

No Problem. I would suspect the aftermarket fan. Gigabyte tech support can be found here http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/ServiceCenter.aspx
