Ive always used creative and still have some SB Live plat on hand !  Looking at Surround Sound  Creative has the Gigaworks at $399.00 and Logitek has the 5500 at $273.00!! Both seem to be very good setups,as far as quality of sound and looks. When I can probabably go with Logitek5500 and Creative X-fi ! Well see.

Onboard, with an Altec Lansing 2.1 speaker setup. My sister has offered me to trade her speakers with mine because hers are too loud.  Hers are a Boston Acoustic 5.1 set up, but I don't have a sound card worth playing them on. Plus they would be too loud in my apt.

This is my Sig. There are many like it but this one is mine.

Re: What Audio R U Using?

Years ago I bought a really nice Altec-Lansing set of speakers - 4 satelites and a sub.  That's the great thing about speakers:  You invest one time big, and you don't need to upgrade again for a lonnnnng time.

As for cards/chipsets, I have multiple sound cards in my system:  I have a relatively cheap Creative Labs CA106-based card attached to the speakers, and I configured my video and audio (Amarok) players to use that one for output.

I have my headphones plugged into the SupremeFX II riser card (on-board audio for Asus Striker II Formula MB).  By setting it as the default sound card under Linux, I can use that for audio in all my games.  So, I can play music through my speakers, but use voice-chat over the microphone and in one ear.  I usually hate onboard audio, but the SupremeFX was the first one I was able to get the mic working perfectly with for CounterStrike:Source under Wine.  I believe it's using the HDA Intel/nVidia chipset driver.
