Wireless Electricity?

I was just paging through some tech articles and one cited this site talking about potential "wireless" electricity in the near-future --- its pretty basic sounding for now (restricted to smaller devices like phones and such) but interesting potential anyway near patent

I have read about this. It would be cool it I could just walk into my house and my phone and ipod would start charging.

sorry couldn't resist. Was watching The Prestige the other day nad  thought of Tesla when I saw this post. good movie FWIW..

Unfortunately, if it's like the implementations I've seen:  this "wireless" energy transfer is just one step above a docking station.  It's usually employed as a mat that you sit the rechargeable device upon.  A far cry from the Tesla towers.

People read the stupidest things.  Like this sig, for instance.
