I recently bought one of the m9750's for my son, he just loves it. We do a lot of gaming together and I'm hoping I could switch over to a 17" notebook like him (currently on a desktop).

I've been looking at some new launches and announcements recently. I see that OCZ and Maingear are going to be releasing some new 17" mobiles with crossfire and centrino 2 support. Given the competition, I'm almost positive we can expect something from Alienware shortly. I saw they have their new m17x, but I'm looking to make a jump to a notebook in the future so I want to make sure it's the latest.

What do you think Alienware will surprise us with? I'm very impressed with their system performance so I'm looking to stay with them.

First off, what is currently in your desktop? What are you reasons for switching over to a laptop?

It will be far cheaper to upgrade/build a desktop than buying the latest gaming notebook of similar performance.

And when you say you want the latest, does that mean the best components you could stick in a notebook? Because I just went over to Alienware's website and configured the m17x with the top cpu, gpu, and 2GB of RAM it it was already over $4000...
