    Asetek Liquid Cooling for 2 of the Hottest GPUs

    We'll be honest: why bother with just one press release when two will work?  After all, there have been two recent "hot" video card announcements, and both are in serious need of some cooling.

    First up, we have NVIDIA's GTX200 family of GPUs.  According to Asetek:

    Asetek announced today the availability of its
    OEM-ready, LCLC liquid cooling solution for nVidia's new GeForce GTX
    200 family of graphics cards. Asetek's unique liquid cooling solution
    provides nVidia's GTX 260 and GTX 280 products with higher overclocking
    potential for demanding gaming applications at nearly silent operation.



    "We are extremely pleased to provide a single-slot graphics card
    cooling solution with no graphics fan noise." says Gary Baum, Asetek's
    Senior VP of Marketing. "Our thermal solution extends overclocking
    performance for the maximum PC gaming experience."


    Asetek's highly integrated solution lowers the GPU temperatures found
    on the GTX 280 by up to 27 degrees, enabling it to run significantly
    cooler—critical in advanced gaming or graphics intensive applications.
    And since the Asetek solution is totally liquid cooled, OEMs can expect
    their units to run completely silent, except for the system heat
    exchanger fan that is 30 dB(A) quiet.




    Next up, we have the AMD 4870 GPU.

    Asetek's industry-leading, LCLC liquid cooling
    solution is now available for AMD's latest ATI Radeon HD 4870 family of
    graphics cards. The unique, single-slot liquid cooling approach
    provides OEMs with an extremely high overclocking capability enabling
    them to design and produce outstanding gaming and entertainment
    products with virtually no noise.



    "PC gamers continue to push the performance envelope," says Gary Baum,
    Asetek's Senior VP of Marketing. "Our award-winning, LCLC thermal
    solution extends overclocking performance providing the maximum gaming
    and entertainment experience—with no graphics fan noise."



    To meet the demands of advanced gaming or graphics-intensive
    applications, Asetek's highly integrated solution lowers the GPU
    temperatures found on the 4870 by as much as 26 degrees, enabling it to
    run significantly cooler in extreme performance modes of operation.
    And, since the Asetek solution is totally liquid cooled, the graphics
    card can run completely silent, except for the system heat exchanger
    fan that typically runs at a quiet 30 dB(A).


    Yes, it's amazing how they can find different words for two such similar products.  Seriously though, there's no doubt these cards are as hot temperature-wise as they are performance-wise, and anything that can keep them cooler is welcome.

     Nice to see them staying on the cutting edge. I am actually surprised at how fast they came out with a solution for both series of graphics cards considering how recently they were just released. I have seen full coverage blocks by both Danger Den and EK for the GTX200 cards but nothing as of yet for the AMD 4800 cards. Since watercooling has become more and more popular it seems like companies are offering compatible products alot sooner then they used to. I remember just last year waiting to see blocks released for the 8800 series cards. When the g92 cards came out though blocks were available very shortly after. I hope these companies keep with the trend.

    The only thing still lacking in availability is chipset and mosfet blocks. But I guess that is because they aren't in as high of demand and aren't needed typically in a water loop.
