Hi.

I am awaiting delivery of my BFG 8800GTS OC, to replace my beloved 7600GT.

Will i need to re-install the drivers, or will the existing nvidia driver work as normal?

Thanks for your time.

nVidia is actually really good with their drivers and keeping them semi-universal across their cardbase. To my knowledge you should effectively be able to keep your existing driver and run the 8800 just fine -- however its never a bad idea to grab the latest released version for bug fixes and more efficiency. If you haven't done so already you should go DL and install 175.16 (i think they are the latest version anyway).

Thank you.

As I suspected.

I had downloaded an updated driver though.

I did hear that there was a power issue with 8 series cards, with the driver reporting a lack of power to the card on startup, as reported in PC Format. I think it was due to some higer-end PSU's not stabilizing the rails fast enough, so the driver sentry complains.

So I had downloaded the latest driver in light of this. Hoping that this problem had been fixed.

You never know!
