    New Build - need PSU

Hi All. This week all I do is ask :)). Well - since I am going to do new build - I might need a new PSU. I am pretty sure that most of you - if not all will advise me to buy a new one. I might just do that. But being tight on a budget I am looking if I could keep my old one. It is a good Enermax PSU, and I feel bad to throw it away. Below are specs for new PC - and the question is - do you think I really haveto to buy new PSU? Or could the old one be enough? E8400@3.0Ghz Nvidia 8800Gt 2Gb DDR2 (2x1Gb) MoBo: do not know yet but problably Asus 5k series (or newer x38 chipset based mobo) 1xDvd Rw 2-3 additional fans Current PSU on my older system is ENERMAX 460W. (do not know the exact model as I am away from home. Thanks for any suggestions :)

460 could do it, If you OC the CPU you might want 550w just for some head room.

Well if your Enermax isn't providing enough juice your computer will let you know. However I doubt it. You should be fine.

The Enermax 460W PSU should be OK. It's a little light on the 12V rail @ 20A though. The 8800GT generally needs a minimum of 400W with 22A on the 12V rail.

You should at least try it to see how it goes. If you have any stability problems, then you may want to look into getting a quality 500W power supply.

I think it's a bit close but it's worth a try. the worst that cold happen is you have problems and have to buy a new psu anyway. atleast if you try it first you will no for sure. At 80% effciency your looking at 368w.
