Best way to back up Outlook 2007?

I remember when I just tried backing up Outlook 2003 pst file and then importing it, all of my calendar and tasks got lost.

Right now I'm using Outlook 2007 and I want to back up the .pst file.  Will that file hold all the task/calendar information?

depends on if your mail is on an exchange server or not.

Microsoft has a guide here, which includes making a personal back up from an  Exchange server.

This site has a nice guide for those who have no clue what you are talking about

You can export the PST file. Just make sure when you export it that you select the "personal folders" folder and have all subdirectories checkmark selected. That will backup all of your mail, contacts, calender, and anything else that would normally be stored with in the PST file.

Is there a command line option or something for me to automate this as a part of my daily backup?

The only thing i can think of to automate it is to write a batch file to copy the PST file out of your C:\Documents and Settings\"User"\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook folder. This is assuming you are running windows XP as well. I forget the direct path to the vista one.

You could use the WIndows Backup utility to do this as well (it is part of Windows XP and Vista). Just tell it to back up everything in your User folder and it should get it. On a side note. the Local Settings folder is a hidden folder so you might need to turn on hidden folders in the folder options menu in order to see it.
