Dear Experts,
I installed the card a couple of weaks ago, in game mode... It started making screaching sounds and hangs the computer up, then restarts automatically.. I started to get worried, so I re installed the card, software and hardware... same thing happens over and over.. with both drivers, the ones that came with it and the updated one from creative... Now it still shows the blue X-FI sign on the card when I turn it on; Windows XP verifies there is a Multimedia Audio Controller, but does not verify when I try to install it that its an X-Fi. the driver installation tells me " No audio product detected on your system, kindly install and run setup again...
I need your advice on this subject, I paid top $$$$ for this card and have not enjoyed it yet... I want to know if it is burned out or what...
PS: After everything, I installed my old Platinium card, in the same PCI slot, runs smoothly and windows automatically verified it even... :(
Sounds like you got a bad one. Return, rinse, and repeat.
Return?? as in send back to retailer.. The one I have will not work no matter what!! It still glows and is stil recognised but with no identification... BURNED OUT mainly!!
