Yeah, I still don't get how they can claim to be discontinuing Windows XP before a new service pack is even out. And I'd probably rather have Linux on something like the Eee than even XP, let alone the resource hog Vista. Ubuntu is practically Windows anyway. If all you do is the basics (internet, videos, word processing) then it's more than adequate. Just don't try messing around in the terminal, that confuses me pretty good.
News:With this announcement comes the question: where is SP3?
I've often read that there may eventually be a Service Pack 3 for XP, but I am not so sure it is necessary. All 5 of my machines run XP trouble-free, and some of them only have SP1 installed (hence they are not fully updated). I don't see SP3 offering anything that would be worthwhile or groundbreaking.
SPAM-posters beware! ®
i heard microsoft will put some of the vista internal code in xp in sp3
If it's faster, that's enough to put me on board. But we'll see. And didn't they say April 2008? We may found out very soon.

I have never met a service pack that speeded-things up. What XP really needs is DX-10!
those dx10 games would really fly on xp
lol if xp got dx-10 alot of people would never get vista
