Early adopters need not apply for the latest release from HIS, as the company has decided to go retro. Serving the trailing-edge niche' can occasionally make for a reasonably solid business case but with desktop computer graphics we have to wonder, just a little.  Though we do sometimes still get the odd reader that pops into our mail bag here (usually Moms or Daddy-o) looking for a way to upgrade the old desktop boat-anchor PC circa 2002 with something that can offer Billy a chance to play Counter Strike with his buddies.  Though there's definitely still an install base, especially in under privileged countries, is AGP still worth supporting?    HIS seems to thinks so...

I have a computer this can go into!  Not sure if it would be worth the money considering it's not much of a gaming machine anymore...

I would have to say that the games coming out now are going to require faster ram/graphics, and AGP motherboards just aren't going to be the cream of the crop.

I would be shocked by this anouncement but the truth is I know some people who still use AGP. But still I wonder what kind of market share HIS can expect to get from this product ? .1 of 1% maybe.

Well it just the case of a casual gamer, or someone who doesn't work, or have enough money to build a new gaming rig.. In that sense I think that Video Card would be a great Option..

Just Imagine someone who got a Nice gaming rig as a present 2 years ago +or-.. and he wants to play newer games, maybe Dx10 games.. and u only have $200 at most.. That's not enough money to build a nice gaming rig, so getting that video card in ur First or Second Generation Athlon 64 would do just fine :)

 it says it has diretx 10.1 i wonder how they got it to run fast enough with agp to do that

This is great for anyone who is unfortunate enough to still be wallowing in the land of AGP. I guess if you are interested in playing the latest games and can't afford a proper system this is for you. Though it seems a little ironic investing in a graphics card that is probably of equal or greater value than the rest of your system. Kind of like throwing brand new rims on a rusted out Pinto. Though considering I am one of the aforementioned unfortunate, I shouldn't poke too much fun at the idea. Still I would find it hard to justify investing in a platform that is virtually obsolete.

Games that run DX 10.1 can be resource hogs, I wonder how well they would run on such an outdated system? Although, I suppose as long as you can play them at all then the objective of these cards would be accomplished.

A great fit for people with AGP Socket 939 systems.  While my 939 system is PCI-e, it has a 3850 and is capabe of playing Crysis, CoD 4, etc.  Definiately the final upgrade for the slot, imo.  Pentium 4 systems would not be using it fully, but do not doubt that 939 can still kick major ass.

 Damn nice of them to do so...But cpu bottlenecking might become a issue from this point on...Any next generation cards would be useless in a AGP slot...lol. But for this generation..I'd expect it to hit the barrier. Definitely nice to see AMD/ATI do this though =P...
