Not living in Kentucky?  Count yourself lucky.

A bill filed in the House would keep Kentuckians from posting anonymous comments to Web sites.

House
Bill 775, filed Tuesday by Rep. Tim Couch, R-Hyden, would require
anyone who contributes to a Web site to register a real name, address
and e-mail address with that Web site. The person's full name then
would be used whenever he or she posted a comment.

Web site
operators who violate the disclosure law would be fined $500 for a
first offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense.

All right, all right, don't get too excited.  Couch admitted that his bill most likely won't pass muster in terms of the First Amendment, but he's trying to make a point with the bill.  As he said, he's been the victim of anonymous posting himself, and wants to bring the issue to the forefront.

What an appalling bill. For the good of us all it better not pass. This sounds like a way for the government to keep tabs on us and prosecute us for comments we make that they don't care for. Disgusting.

What do you mean by "the victim of anonymous posting?" What can someone do anonymously other that flame you? If they actually do something serious, it's not hard for the right people to track them down, so it doesn't really matter.

This country is becoming more and more demented with each passing day -_-....Privacy?...What's that?...All our rights are slowly vanishing, or getting worse. =(...Obviously this isn't going to pass though, this is just too ridiculous...But this country is on the turn for the worse.
