Is a 28" worth $579?

Do any of you have any experience with a 28" monitor, the largest monitor I have seen is 24". I am thinking of selling the old 19" samsung and add some more money to get a bigger one. I intend to buy the samsung 245BW. But I am now thinking of the Viewsonic Vx2835wm 28" , with 3ms looks nice. Do you think this will be a worh while try???

Viewsonic makes great monitors, and the fact that this 28" is the same price as the 24" makes it worth a look.  The only drawback with this monitor is the 800:1 contrast ratio, meaning you won't get quite as rich of color as with other monitors, but that's only a minor complaint in the long run.  Also, make sure you have the horsepower in your graphics cards if you plan to run this for gaming, as anything outside of the native resolution looks pretty grainy.

its ridiculous how much the price jumps from  a 17" ,19",20" and more... for me, i don't feel like i'd pay $579...

 The contrast on the 245BW is 3000/1000 CR. I own this monitor and I have been very impressed with it. If you go 28" make sure you sit far enough back from it to really enjoy it.

Hi All

I am using a Sharp 32" 1920 x 1080 LCD TV as a monitor. I sit the normal distance that anyone would having a desktop system. I've have not experienced any "screen door" effect. This display has been nothing short of awesome. Without trying to step on anyones feelings, I feel that a lot of Folk parrot what they've either read or heard without any first hand experience concerning large screen displays.

I am using a 26" LCD, and have some advice for people buying LCD HDTVs for use as monitors.  Make sure you get a TV with a VGA input,  the TV will not display correctly if you use a DVI to HDMI adapter.  the TV won't realize it is a computer, and everything will be off.
