Can't Find a Wii? Put a Raincheck Under the Tree

Still can't get a Nintendo Wii? Join the club. However, there might be a possible solution, if you don't mind putting a piece of paper under the tree, as well as a somewhat fuzzy delivery date.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime told a telephone news conference that shoppers who pay the full price of about $249 for an out-of-stock Wii on December 20 and 21 at retailer GameStop Corp will get a certificate promising a Wii "sometime in January."

The program is exclusive to GameStop. The executive declined to say how many units would be available, but noted that the video game specialty retailer had "many tens of thousands" of rain checks.

Instead of a large box under the tree with a Wii in it, many will be getting little envelopes with a raincheck in it. Not much fun on Christmas Day, but something to look forward to in January.

 I'm the "nerd" around here and at work and you wouldn't believe how many folks have asked where they find one and if there were any secrets that would ensure them nabbing one. I tell all of my friends my local GameSuck has used Wii's and most settle with that. I was eating dinner last night at a Japanese Steakhouse and the parties to the left and right of me were talking about trying to score a Wii. I camped out at 1am at my local Best Buy for my wife's last Christmas...that will never happen again! : )

My brother in law somehow scored 3 in this past month! How? I am not totally sure.....

My sister (his wife) was telling me that he got one for their kids, one for my other sister's kids, and one for his boss' kids....

I am pretty sure he has magical ninja powers but I will have to get back to you guys on that...haha NEED A WII?

Just goto a store in a more rural area. They always have videogame machines in stock.

 ^That was my strategy as well.  I ended up searching on Craigslist every second until I found a guy selling a new one for 200$ just because he had an extra one.
