Industry news has definitely slowed to a trickle; so what happens when the going gets tough?  The tough go shopping of course.  We've compiled a few deals for you today courtesy of our PriceGrabber search engine here at HH and think you'll be pleasantly surprised to see that new Radeon 38XX and GeForce 8800 GT cards have come down a smidge here and there.  For the money, with the deal Dell has going on now for the GeForce 8800 GT (full 512MB card) at $255, you can't go wrong.  Then again, if you're a died-in-the-wool AMD-ATI fan, a Radeon 3870 512MB card at $234 certainly isn't anything to sneeze at either.  These make excellent stocking-stuffers for your loved ones... like, yourself of course!

Unfortunately that Amazon deal is a preorder.  Doesn't AMD see the demand for these, considering they are going for much more than retail?  Crank up the production!  They are out of stock everywhere for $250 or less.  Nevermind that they are "supposed" to retail at $220, bah.

Yes, as I noted but at least technically you can clock in at that price and have a fairly good chance of getting one in reasonable time. Amazon is obviously a fairly reputable shop. ;)

I went ahead and ordered a Powercolor Radeon 3850 512mb just a couple hours ago.

It's faster than the default 3850s, and benchmarks have its performance not too far off the 3870s.  $210 is right inbetween where normal 3850s and 3870s sell for, so it seems like a good value.  I'll report on the performance when it arrives.
