This is a great PSU, I won mine on LR. I haven't been able to use all of the juice, but so far it is great. Modular design, not too much longer than a standard PSU (only about an inch longer than my old 305W PSU).
Check this one out if you need a lot of power!
Normally, Ultra makes some pretty bad PSU's. But they do have a few which are outstanding...this is definitely one of them =D.
Here's a jonnyguru review for you guys ^_^...It's a beauty.
This is an awsome power supply. I have one myself, the only thing that I don't like about it that it is very loud. Compared to my other fans in the computer, only the power supply is making the noise in my computer. It kind of sucks.
Even the Ultra 700w modular is noisy. Had to stick it in a heavy steel case to quiet it down.
I still see no need for a 1k Watta PSU......even with a quad-sli setup or something most rigs STILL wouldn't need that much power -- especially if the PSU is very efficiant which well, should be a MUST on anyone's list when getting a PSU.
I heard Ultra used to make poor PSU's, but from what I have heard lately, they seem to be turning things around.
Actually a nice high-wattage (and amperage of course) PSU is one of the best things you could buy. Power consumption is only going to go up, and buying a 600 watt now, and an 800 or 900 later is just a poor investment.
Plus I love the security and future proofing knowing that it can handle any card I throw in it in the next year or so.
I still do not understand why people use 1KW power supplies for their workstations.Isn't a lot of power unused?
I wouldn't have bought this unless I needed all of the Wattage, though since I won the thing, I will use it. I probably only use about 400W, but its not like the thing produces 1kw, then the other is wasted, it only produces enough watts to be used.
I had one of the original X-Connects for the longest time which ran great however and its good to see Ultra has been on track with the quality of their PSUs ever since they released their X3 lineup. As for the rest however not so much like their X2 lineup.
