Hi Folks,

I thought this would help bring some organization to the processors section a bit. Post away!

Core 2 seems to be a solid choice, but...
...advances in technology are made so quickly these days. It would suck to jump on the bandwagon now only to see a better CPU come out in 3 months or less for the same price. I'm a gamer and want a rig that will rip through games like UT2007 & Crysis.

I guessing your thinking 2X2 or 4x4 (or what ever it is, the AMD thing) will be the thing. I dout that UT2007 would slow with an e6600, besides its going to come down to the GPU more than the CPU. Once gmae makes start coding for the second processor then it will be a big jump in Games, once core could do the gaming and the other could do the all loved physics, effectivly removing the need for a PPU.

So far my next upgrade path is: E6700 on "bad axe" with 2 x 1gb ballistix PC-6400, will wait for DX10 cards.

I've always had good luck with Intel boards and the "bad axe" can't overclock a non EE CPU out of the box. I'm not into overclocking anyway so while value-wise the E6600 is clearly a great choice, I can actually afford a $500 proccessor this time around! Hopefully I'll be just as enthused about 2.66ghz a year from now.
A DX10 capable xfire setup is on my most wanted list!
