Hi. Until a few days ago i had a Voodoo3 (16MB, PCI), and only 512 MB. Now i have a 6600 PCI-E and 1GB RAM, so im very outdated when it comes to games. Please, recommend new games and tell me things like: genre, good graphics/sound, good story, etc, etc...

Thanks!

(edit)PS:My systems specs are my signature. Also, keep in mind "new games" for me are games newer than 5 years ago, since i couldnt run these before.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+, 4 GB RAM(2x2, Kingston, PC2-6400), XFX GeForce 8800GT XXX 670M (512MB GDDR3), ASUS M2N-MX Mobo, Sound Blaster Audigy SE SB0570(7.1, HD EAX), 2 SATAII HDDs: WD 500GB and Samsung 160GB OS: Windows XP SP3(Pro) x86.

if your into;
- RPG's go with fable,
- if your into real time strategies go with WH40k: dawn of war,
- if your into FPS's go with call of duty 2,
- if your into turn based strategies go with civilisation 4,
- racing games is gonna have to be need for speed most wanted,
- and something random you should all definatley try out is darwinia (you can get it off steam the easiest)
- and who could forget grand theft auto: san andreas!
im sure these will keep you occupied for a while, and there should be something there to suit everyones taste!

i agree with freeman, there are so many good games around at the moment, the only problem is, they never seem to last as long as you'd want/expect ... with the notable exception of wow, but i cant really pass commenton that, as i have never played it. guild wars is a very good alternative to wow, and that i can comment on!

Thanks for the replies, the games you two recommend are GREAT(at least the reviews says so). What do you think about MOH: Pacific Assault?

F.E.A.R., SWAT 4, Rome: Total War, AOE III, Painkiller. If I was going to get an online game, I'd get WoW or D&D Online over Guild Wars. MoHA is a decent WWII FPS, but not better than either CoD game, so I guess it just matters if you're a MoH fan or not how much you'll like it. Worth around 13 dollars or so IMO. Mount&Blade gets a recommendation too, especially considering it's an indy game.

just buy WoW and close off your schedule for the next 5 years - youll be good - especially if you want to beat the game - (i.e. Pick one character - get the best item per slot and exhalted with all the factions)

I don't like either of them much, but I recall WoW owning the hell out of GW critically. The only people I know that liked GW better were ones not in a position to handle monthly fees. =P

Either way, I like D&D Online better than either of them, or any other MMO for that matter.

If you like football (soccer) and think you have what it takes to lead your favorite club to the treble, try football manager 2006 (aka Worldwide Soccer Manager 2006 in NAmerica). It's one of those games that you can go on playing for quite a long time.

But only if you like football/soccer. If you don't, you probably will hate it.

my friend plays FFXI and he loves it but i dont realy care for it but it really just depends on ure gaming "style" i guess. It has pretty good graphics etc but is a little hard to get used to and stuff. I havent seen MGS 3 for pc so i really doubt it is out at least in us, checked gamestop site and they didnt have it soo i doubt it

Final Fantasy 11 for PC is multiplayer only, or it can be played also in single player mode?

For now there is indeed no PvP. But I don't consider that a bad thing, necessarily. I'm also playing CoV, which is VERY PvP based, so I guess I'm getting the best of both worlds between the two games.

FPS:
Battlefield 2
Half Life 2
Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
F.E.A.R.

I personally like Hitman: Codename 47 (the original game in the Hitman series. After the first one they overhauled the game engine and it's just not the same) It's the kind of game you either love or hate and half of it is pretty awful i.e. the Rambo levels, but you've gotta love the fibre wire and the silenced berretta.

Squad Based Shooter:
Star Wars Republic Commando

Driving & Shooting:
Mafia

Also-- take a look at The Godfather when it's released.

Fable is excellent (not such a typical RPG however)

Adventure games:
Myst Exile
Riven (if you haven't already played it)
Grim Fandango (if you haven't already played it)

I really wasnt expecting all those replies. Thanks once again. Someone told me that BF2 doesnt have a story mode, but if you want to play in single player then you have to play versus bots in a map; Is this true?
I bought CoD2, FEAR, GTA:SA, NFS:MW and HL2 and i want to thank you guys for those excellent recommendations, im having a LOT of fun playing with them.
Unfortunately, i also bought MoH: PA and well its a good game, but i was expecting it to be a lot better(maybe because i first played CoD2, which is the BEST WWII game i ever played).
Im planning on buying Fable:The Lost Chapters. Also samsickman, tell me a little more about darwinia please!

I've not played it but from what I've read about it it seems it's been designed more for online play than anything else. I believe it is possible to configure it to play as a single player game but I'm not sure if there's much in the way of storyline or plot development (or any plot at all for that matter), but I'm not really sure as I've not played it.

I'd recommend either buying it to play online or if you only want to play offline looking for a game with a better plot. Mafia is excellent (the dialogue isn't too good when it first starts out but it just gets better and better, and the sory is excellent). To really enjoy Mafia however you definately should get a wheel (and peddles), even if just a basic one. I'd recommend at least picking up the bottom of the line Thrustmaster wheel because even without all of the bells and whistles it adds a huge amoun to the game (and if you've got Need for Speed already it probably wouldn't be that much of a stretch).

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is also notable for it's storyline and varied content which is something that's kind of necessary if playing offline. Online team-based games are exciting because they're just that: online team-based games (taken offline they can often become very repetative and boring very quickly)

I play mostly all of my games off-line (I don't really play any online team-based games) so I make most of my choices based on whether it'd keep me entertained without 'interpersonal interactions' with other players. Bearing that in mind I'd also recommend Star Wars: Republic Commando and Half Life 2.

Check out the Godfather also.

I have Mafia, and yes, its an excellent game(a little old, though).
I just bought Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones: WOW! What an amazing game! I have a PSX Controller plugged into my PC with a PS to USB adaptor and its defenetely one of the games i had more fun with in my life! The moves are excellent! I suppose its the same deal with the two previous versions(Sands of Time and Warrior Within) but im not sure. I dont think it should be easy to control this game by using the keyboard or a standard joystick, so be careful. I also bought Fable, and i really have to recommend it. If you want an RPG, you cant go wrong. I think my next buys will be the Splinter Cell series, but it may be the PoP saga as well, since i have a very good impresion from T2T.
Chronicles of Riddick, huh? Gamespot gives it a 9.3/10 (superb) so im going to buy it for sure, thanks for the recommendation, buttonman.
