The system ought to be scoring higher than it is.

I think that the 240GB SSD may be too full. It's the one I use all of the time and I haven't tweaked it in a long time.

No time to mess with it because my water heater just quit working last night.

It's an i7 and that makes it worse. What resolution are you running?

Thanks for the info, realneil. I have the same i7-870 @ 4GHz and your scores

helped me decide that I don't need to spend the money to upgrade at this time.

However, I most certainly need to upgrade my GTX 275.

My scores:

FPS: 14.3

Score: 360

Min FPS: 7.9

Max FPS: 33.9

*hangs head in shame* :D

Here is my Valley benchmark with my new EVGA GTX 670 FTW+.

I just need to figure out why the new GPU appears to never go over 705 MHz(save the above

screenshot to see as this site cropped the edge) *scratches head* ...and buy a SSD. =)

Lynnfields are great CPUs but the 1156 platform doesn't have the PCI-E lanes that X58 does. So SLI and Crossfire are not going to run the same way.

As for OC,...no, it's only at stock speed (2.9GHz.) because it's older now. I don't want to lose it by pressing my luck. It always did OC very well though.

I have other systems that I OC. (2600K & FX-8350)

The 870 has a Corsair H-50 CPU cooler with two TT-Silent-Cat 120mm fans in push/pull, 16GB (4-4GB) of GSKill Sniper DDR3-1600 RAM, 1.5TB Storage, and a 120GB SSD. The case is a CM-HAF 932.

I tested on high settings with the i7-870 only.

The score was 2332 and Fps 55.7

It has a GTX-570 also.

That is strange. I just tried with my Nexus 7 and still cannot see your i7-870 results. Would you just write them out like you did for your 2600K.

Yeah, I'm still using the i7-870 system they gave me in 2009.

It too, has better graphics in it, but it still eats through games like crazy. Encoding jobs go fast, and it's dependable. Here is it's score, tested on High settings.

I blame Dave and Marco for giving me such a powerful CPU. It possesses no bottlenecks when coupled with the multitasking power of Linux. It's hard to believe this system is nearly three years old.

I've upgraded the graphics, but my card's not bleeding edge, and yet all of my games (even the Wine ones) run flawlessly. I can see this system working perfectly for another three or four years (as long as I upgrade graphics at some point)... which I would have thought insane before using it.
