Sure, rebates are a hassle and you don't get your money until 10 weeks later. But I'm cool with that.

So you just got to look for 8800GT deals. They aren't too hard to find.

Re: Viper Radeon HD 3850 512MB Ruby Edition

Let's not get fanboi here. The cheapest 8800GTS 512mb I can find on Newegg is $224. This Radeon card is $169. They are not made to compete.

Though I will admit buying this particular card is questionable because you can actually get the higher performing 3870 for $159. This is a good option considering the cheapest 8800GT 512mb is $194. Nvidia does have more choices, but there's still room for ATi. They just aren't competing in the high end, yet.

Re: Viper Radeon HD 3850 512MB Ruby Edition

I guess its a decent card for Radeon... but Nvidia still blows it out of the water.

The 8800GTS 512mb card beat the HD3850 in every benchmark/test by a substantial amoung... and the 8800GTS isn't even the most powerful single card out there...

Nvidia has still got my backing!

Viper Radeon HD 3850 512MB Ruby Edition

Just in case you missed the fresh link at the top of the page, we're popping into the news to let you all know that we've just posted a new article here at HotHardware in which we evaluate Diamond Multimedia's Viper Radeon HD 3850 512MB Overclocked Ruby Edition graphics card - perhaps one of the longest names for a single product that we've come across. As its name suggests, the Viper Radeon HD 3850 512MB Overclocked Ruby Edition's frame buffer has been doubled from the reference card's 256MB to 512MB. Additionally, Diamond has gone an extra step and raised GPU and memory speeds from the default 670MHz / 830MHz of the original reference design to 725Mhz / 900MHz. Higher speeds and more memory just might be what the doctor ordered to make the Diamond Viper HD 3850 512MB a bit more competitive in an already crowded field of mainstream graphics cards. Click the link below and check it out...

Diamond Multimedia's Viper Radeon HD 3850 512MB Overclocked Ruby Edition
