You assemble a PC with a fairly high end CPU (since you want GPU to be the limitting factor as much as possible) and run a bunch of gaming benchmarks with a bunch of graphics cards from the past couple years. You can even add new cards when they come out to the tests if you only use the PC for benchmarking, so that Windows doesn't "age" and hurt performance.

I wouldn't mind seeing an older CPU used for some tests as well (but only as a bonus edition, a high end CPU comes first). It wouldn't have to be for as many cards and benchmarks. I'm thinking this could be useful for people with older CPUs who are wondering if a new GPU is worth it. You could compare a 3Ghz Intel Core 2 against an older AMD Athlon 64 5000+ with each system testing several GPUs in newer games like Crysis and Call of Duty 4. How much worse does a Radeon 4850 perform at Crysis on an aging AMD dual core vs a new Intel? Is it worth upgrading from a older card to a newer one on such an "old" CPU?

hdtv tuner review/roundup

ok, so with the switch from analog to digital alot of tv's are going under. however, people can use their computer and monitor as a tv! a 22 inch monitor, can make an excellent hdtv! but which hdtv tv tuners should people get? ive searched online and there seems to be no real comparision of the different models, nor explanation or what to look for exactly. so im requesting, if hothardware can produce an article.

media crunching build

my dad needs a computer for video editing for his business. he has tasked me to build one on the cheap for him. wondering whether the gpu or cpu is more important and so should get a bigger budget.? any ideas for parts such as mobo. i was just going to go with a p45 probs from asus with a core2duo of some sort q9450? and then 6 gigs ram? with a 4890/70 graphics card. advice? tis early days not needed for a couple weeks at least.

good computer?

CUSTOM WORKSTATION, CoreTM i7 DDR3 Series TeslaTM HPC Personal Supercomputer $3378.27 UPDATE
# CHENBRO, SR105 Black Server/Workstation Chassis, EATX, No PSU
# COOLER MASTER, Real Power Pro, 80 PLUS®, 1250W Power Supply, 24-pin ATX EPS12V, Triple SLI Ready
#

I would like to see less forums, at the moment there is too many. I competely understand the need to give content some hierarchy but there isn't enough members to contribute posts and its spread out to thin. We have plenty of members but just too many sections.

Bringing the number down to eight forums sections would be plenty. Each one adopt its umbrella title. It would focus the content better as at the moment some people are putting posts that would otherwise fit in to other sections into General as to get some coverage on their topic.

I was just wondering why the main forum index doesn't show the names of the users currently online at the bottom (like some other forums). We can only see the number of users online, not actually who is online. I think we should be able to (it'd be nice to see who was on for a change).

Thanks and have a Happy New Year!

Ya know how we get email alerts to posts here. Well what if we could simply reply to that email and the response would hit the forums as a post. I say this because my blackberry is constantly going off with alerts from here but alot of times I am no where near a computer to respond and for some reason I can't log onto the forums with my blackberry. I am just thinking that something like this would increase activity on the forums tremendously as people can easily respond to stuff directed at them without having to be infront of a computer. SO basicly if you can get your email you would be able to contribute.

Links in comments to front-page stories.

Since you can't edit comments you make to a lot of front page links, would it at least be possible to include buttons for linking text?

Youtube Video Channel

Hi Guys,
