It's a terrific tech that'll only get better. Plus, not enthusiast gamers won't have to worry about switching between ATI and Nvidia when they purchase the latest cards every 6 months.

RE: CES 2010 Highlight Wrap-Up In Video and Pictures

My next build will be whenever Lucid gets a motherboard mfgr to release an AMD board with the Hybrid chip on it (I think I'll have enough money by them).

RE: CES 2010 Highlight Wrap-Up In Video and Pictures

Yeah, it's very exciting. And the scaling is remarkable. HotHardware did a review of them back in November, look at this graph and the performance of the HD 4890/GT 260 combination. It's right in between Dual 260 and Dual 4890's!

Think about running a 295 and a 5970 together with a 5850 or 285 physics card. I actually find it quite funny with my 5850 I can generally just crank everything up all the way and still get great frame rates. The software market really needs to step up and give us something that can make use of the current hardware. Not to mention Nvidia will be dropping a new video card sometime this quarter, and ATI may to (either this quarter or next). So we are at a period where the graphics market is really beyond the requirements of the software. I have not seen it like this in quite a few years.

RE: CES 2010 Highlight Wrap-Up In Video and Pictures

"But one of the products that caught our eye was the Big Bang Fuzion motherboard which features Lucid's Hydra chip and supports the combination of ATI and NVIDIA videocards."

I was wondering what became of Lucid's Hydra chip...so this is absolutely awesome! Yes folks, this is MSI's motherboard which will offer cross-vendor GPU support (you can insert any combination of Nvidia or ATI into the motherboard). The motherboard will have the LGA1156 socket, capable of supporting Intel’s Core i3/i5/i7 processors,
anduses the Intel P55 chipset, has 3 PCI Express
x16 slots, and supports SLI and ATI Crossfire configs!! I don't know if it will support USB 3.0 though.

Also, it's already on retail in Japan for ~$400. For a starting point, that's not bad all. It will continue to drop as more and more motherboard support the technology. The other great thing about Lucid Hydra was that SLI and Crossfire are supposed to scale a lot better with it. This would be a bigger advantage for ATI as their Crossfire has usually trailed SLI in performance.

The moveme!nt of technology in general is at an incredibly fast pace. I am currently reading an article in Popular Mechanic about robots. They say we will have them for general usage (Humanized Robots) in 5 years. Can you believe that 5 years !

RE: CES 2010 Highlight Wrap-Up In Video and Pictures

Yeah, they're using the same designation for their Asus Eee Keyboard.

It has a 5 inch touchscreen, 1.6GHz Atom N270,
1GB memory, and a 16 GB SSD drive. It also has WiDi to send your display out to a TV screen or other monitor. Essentially it's like a keyboad-all-in-one, lol. It's a really cool idea and given more powerful hardware, I can see it becoming a mainstay in some media centers.

Just imagine coming home from work and sitting on your recliner and instead of going for the remote you reach for your keyboard instead!

Re: CES 2010 Highlight Wrap-Up In Video and Pictures

@gibber's animal girls
