There have been times when the smaller CPU manufacturer has been all but banished from the company's online store, and then there are times like now, when AMD-powered rigs are popping up in multiple areas. Dell doesn't exactly acknowledge the trend, but Dell's director of consumer desktops, John Terwilliger, told Statesman: "Today's digital lifestyle revolves around video, music, photos and the capability to share those personal experiences. AMD technology helps us deliver a great multimedia experience at a great price."

The OEM's vehicle of choice for delivering that experience is the Inspiron 546. We don't normally cover the launch of a mainstream desktop line, but Walmart is currently running a fabulous deal that's worth a mention. Last week, we discussed how Wal-Mart was moving forward with a $298 laptop, and today it's the desktop's turn. For $798, you can buy an Inspiron 546 powered by an AMD Phenom X3 8450 with 8GB of RAM, a 640GB HDD, and a 24" Dell S2409W LCD. The LCD itself doesn't come with a lot of built-on extras, but its 1920x1080 resolution is solid and the online reviews are positive.

Hopefully Dell's comments on multimedia performance reflect more than a momentary tryst with the other CPU manufacturer. Intel's integrated graphics are second-rate citizens compared to what both AMD and NVIDIA offer, and it's high time a major OEM noticed. The upcoming line of Core i7 / i5 processors could make new trouble for AMD, but Intel still has plenty of Core 2 parts left to sell, and it's unlikely that the OEM will move swiftly to push Core i5 into the budget-oriented market.

I-Inc iF-281DPB 28" Widescreen LCD Monitor - 1920x1200 WUXGA, 800:1 Contrast, 3ms, HDMI, VGA, Energy Star, Tilt & Swivel Stand, w/Speakers

I-Inc iF-281DPB 28" Widescreen LCD Monitor - 1920x1200 WUXGA, 800:1 Contrast, 3ms, HDMI, VGA, Energy Star, Tilt & Swivel Stand, w/Speakers

I found this GREAT offer on the PNY XLR8 Website. I'd be really interested in the deal, but as you know Newegg doesn't ship here.

PNY are giving away around 1700 mystery discount codes if you use your XLR8gaming.net account to go this link: http://portal.xlr8gaming.net/?page=speakvisual

You have to use your account details to log in. After that you can play this spin the wheel game which will give you a Newegg Discount code for the PNY Store at Newegg (it may take some patience/luck). The codes come in 5,10 and 50 dollars, and you can only use them on certain PNY Video cards. (read the thread here for more info: Click Here)

So, the thing is, if you're lucky enough to score a $50 discount code, and redeem it on a PNY GTX 260 which is $175, it would only cost $125! And even better, the mail in rebate would bring it down another 20 dollars to ONLY $105!! The 260 also includes free shipping!

So if you guys are willing to be patient for a $50 code, you could get some serious GFX power for a seriously low price!

Imagine if you paid $210 for two 260s in SLI! Or $315 for Tri-SLI!

Hope you guys can make use of the offer.

Tank

Note: You can use the codes on other PNY Cards, but I think this is the best value for money.

OCZ Ram on Sale

OCZ triple channel ram on sale

Though it consumes a bit more power and requires an 8-pin PCIe power connector, as well as a 6-pin plug, we're seeing GeForce GTX 280 cards from BFG filtering into certain etailers like NewEgg at the $279 - $259 mark...
If you don't already know, a MagicJack is a VOIP device that plugs into the USB port on your computer and allows you to make and receive phone calls via the internet. I ordered mine from HERE and it came within a few days. The device itself looks like a giant oversized flash drive, and a dongle cable is also supplied. MagicJack requires Vista, XP, or an Intel-based Mac. I installed mine on my test rig with Windows 7 beta build 7000 but it wouldn't work, so I then installed it on an XP machine. The install and set-up went smoothly. During set-up you choose your own area code and prefix, and then you get to start using your phone. I must say that the voice quality is quite good - as good as my landline! Included with the MagicJack, at no extra cost, is Caller ID and Voicemail. The only downside is that your computer needs to run 24/7 if you want to use your phone around the clock. But other than that, I highly recommend this product! I have posted this thread in the Hot Deals forum section because of the money this baby is going to save me. Today I called AT&T and told them I wanted to drop all of the extra features on my landline (Caller ID, Metro Plan, etc.) and reduced my monthly landline phone bill to only $7.28 mo. using their Measured-Rate plan (I still use AT&T for DSL). I now have an answering machine hooked to my landline, but make and receive all of my calls with MagicJack. This will save me nearly $50 a month!
