X86 is for 32 bit programs to reside in and the other is for pure 64 bit programs. You need both kinds and both folders too.

You will end up with both of them on both hard drives, but that's OK. Duplicated folders and such is normal and expected.

If you remember to install only what you need to run very fast on the "C" drive and everything else on the Storage drive it will keep the SSD from filling up and the system will remain speedy.

Re: Budget of $1,100

About that.
When you install a program, you need to not just hit the enter key all the way through. You have a choice as to where it goes during the install process. when you get to the part that says where do you want to install it to?,....you change the very first letter of the indicated install path from "C" to "E" and leave the rest alone. Then it goes into the right place on the large drive.

Edit you may have to update your bios so check with the Asus web site and your manual for the proper info.

Re: Budget of $1,100

I've gotten everything working.
(Edit: Also, if anyone is interested in knowing why I got my confidence back and wanted to try again, it's because of this video tutorial. It's extremely in-depth (over 2 hours long) and uses the same/similar mobo as I do, and a similar GPU, Drive, HDD, and is pretty much my build except I have a smaller case, an SDD, and a modular PSU.)

Ok, I decided to try it all again. I took everything apart, put it back in its cases, and decided to take a nice long break and watch a movie. About an hour and a half ago (it's 4:15am atm) I decided to try it again from scratch. Fortunately, this time all the fans (except for the case fans as I haven't connected those to the PSU yet) turn on! :D Which I think is a good sign. But, unfortunately, I get no picture on the screen I have connected. Does anyone know why this may be? Bad GPU? Something not connected right? Did I just screw up while plugging in the screen?

Also, I'm not sure if my case/mobo has a speaker (that allows you to hear system beeps). When I started the computer, I think I heard a sound that sounded like a beep, but I'm not 100% sure. Is there a way I can tell if there's a speaker anywhere on the mobo?

Oh, and the red DMM (or was it DIMM?) LED next to the RAM slots is lighting up. Is that good or bad? Usually, red = bad, but you never know. I'm going to take another break, might wait until after I sleep (maybe lol) to start work again. Once I'm ready, I'll look in the mobo manual and see what the DMM LED is for, but if someone wants to tell me before then, please, please feel free to :)

Re: Budget of $1,100

Unfortunately, I have to say I was totally under prepared and I am regretting decision to go this route.

It's been nothing but headache. Mostly because I've been filled with constant fear of destroying my parts due to static :/ Watching all the video tutorials I could find, and written tutorials haven't been much help, unfortunately. I am giving up and I'm just going to pay $60 to have someone come and put it together for me. And, if someone is dead/broken, they'll tell me. So at least I'll know that.

As far as I can tell, I plugged everything in correctly. So I'm at a lose as to what to do. And, unfortunately, I know no one within a 6 hours drive that can put computers together confidently. So, I'm just going to have someone else do it. I'm hoping none of my parts are dead or broken, because if they are, I'll have to ship them back which will probably cost a fair amount of money, which I don't have right now.

I guess I just wasn't meant to put together a computer xD Hopefully, tomorrow will be the end of it and I can just enjoy playing games.
