Question Dark Power Pro 10 850w

On the DPP10 there is a feature that I dont understand..
Since I am not really an extreme overclocker (at all lol) and wont be affording quad sli etc... I would like to know the use for this
quote from their site:
Overclocking key allows switchover between quadruple independent +12V rail mode and high-performance single-rail operation

It has a switch that you can turn on and off??
Whats the reason for the quad / single (and can I assume that on for OC would be the single rail?)

Thanks!!

after digging around and asking others as well.. it seems I have answered my own question

" Typically, a single rail is advantageous in multi-gpu setups and prevents a GPU from overdrawing on one of the rails and tricking the protection circuits into thinking that something is wrong. It also prevents you from accidentally misconfiguring your rails in this type of environment. Multi rail offers better protection in lower powered setups."
