Nexus owners are a lucky bunch, and savvy too, for having picked devices that are promised Android updates pretty much as soon as they're available. This has been especially beneficial to Nexus 5 smartphone owners (see our review) the past few days, as Google's been pushing out some incremental KitKat updates one after the other.

Android 4.4.1 began rolling out to Nexus 5 owners as early as last Thursday, according to a Google+ post by the Nexus team. That update introduced an improved camera along with HDR+ for better photography with faster focusing (especially in low light), faster white balancing for truer colors, and the ability to pinch-zoom the viewfinder in HDR+ mode. Less shutter lag was also introduced in the Android 4.4.1 update.

Other changes include a fix for clearing the VM indicator, "various additional software fixes," and some security enhancements.

Less than a week later, Google is pushing out another incremental upgrade -- Android 4.4.2 -- via an over-the-air (OTA) update to Nexus 5 owners. Based on info collected from the official Sprint forums, Android Central says the minor patch is meant to address issues that were introduced in the original 4.4.1 update, which has since been pulled. As such, the changelog is the same.

Lucky them. I own a Galaxy S4 and just received my 4.3 update. I didn't notice much. But the battery life seems better.

Got it on my N4 last night. Only visual difference is fancier icons. There seems to be a location/GPS half on mode where the icon is half visible. I heard they rushed this one out to fix a security problem.

I did a manual update on unlocked bootloader to 4.4.1 and then to 4.4.2 on my Nexus 5.

I upgraded from a Note 2.

Before that I drank the Apple Kool Aid.

I just updated my Galaxy S3 last week from 4.1 to 4.3. Can't wait for the KitKat 4.4 update to become available for it.
