Without a doubt, Google's upcoming Nexus 5 smartphone built by LG has to be the worst kept secrets on the web, and perhaps that's by design. The latest confirmation that a Nexus 5 exists -- and is close to being released -- is that someone on Google's web team was a little overzealous yesterday and posted the product live in Google Play.

Marketing stunt? That's certainly a possibility, though it could just as easily been a clumsy error since hardly any details were provided. One thing that did appear, however, is the price tag. The Nexus 5 was listed at $349 for the 16GB model, and if that ends up being the cheapest model available, it will mean having to spend a little more than what some users paid for the Nexus 4, which started at $299 for a model with half the amount of storage.

Nexus 5

Regardless, $349 for a 16GB Nexus 5 is a really good deal. Remember, that's not a subsidized price, but the actual cost of what will likely be the world's first Android 4.4 KitKat device.

Earlier this month, an rough draft of the Nexus 5's user manual was leaked to the web. It contained information on the phone's specs, though some of the items listed are subject to change. Prior to that, some of the phone's details were found in FCC filings.

Looks like someone peeled the Kit Kat wrapper back a little bit too early.

I'm looooooving how some of these smartphones are dropping in price even as others skyrocket. $349? Heck yeah.
