Google Chromecast Review: Yes, It's Worth Every PennyGoogle announced its Chromecast media streaming device last week and immediately caused quite a stir amongst technology enthusiasts. Not only was the Chromecast seemingly easy to use, but its low $35 price point made it attainable by virtually anyone. It didn’t hurt that Google was throwing in a three month trial of Netflix with the device as well, but that deal was suspended almost as soon as it was announced due to overwhelmingly high demand.

The Google Chromecast is a simple device to understand. It is basically a small HDMI dongle that physically plugs into an HDTV (or other display) and wirelessly connects to a local Wi-Fi network...

Chromecast is great when you want to stream media that's in the cloud, but it can't play music or videos that reside on your pc or phone. I'll be glad when Google approves the use of apps like MyCast that should enable users to stream content from their own devices, as well as from the cloud.

Agreed. But even still--for 35 bucks, the Chromecast is a worthwhile purchase.

Much better than Chromecast is the new Miracast TV -- which doesn’t limit the content you display like Chromecast does, and a new Miracast HD Wireless adapter ($39) became available this week, which offers a lot more features and works much more like Apple’s $100+ Airplay Wireless display technology–

One of the first sources to carry this new device is TabletSprint -- worth checking out for this alone… and for Android tablets, including a new series of tablets that launch next week that outprice and outperform the new Nexus -- definitely worth reviewing...

Miracast is just  branding for Intel's Wireless Display (WiDi) tech. many TVs with built-in wifi already support this.

Just got that thing this week.... it only works with netflix and you tube. and when you cast netflix from your phone, netflix "thinks " you are watching Netflix on two devices Phone and Tv, even if phone screen is off after a few seconds) so if you have netflix membership for 7.99 and you are "allowed" to watch it on two devices that's it -nobody can watch anything else on netflix in that time. That's sucks!!!!!

A good product. Another product(ipazzportcast) has been released. It is simple but the same useful with Chromecast.
