Building a new rig. Ordered most the parts except the Mobo/CPU. Not really sure what I want to go with yet. Z87 w/4770k or X79 w/3930k. I understand the X79 is a way more expensive option. Should I just wait for the release of the X99? I think if I go X79 it'll just be a waste (not really) but the anticipation of the X99 is killing me and I am ready now. What do you guys think?
I currently am running a GTX 660Ti but I have a GTX760 on its way.
I believe you can make a build with the z87 without any problem, note that the Haswell are go to be update in Q2 2014, but are going to be full compatible with z87 chipset. so you have no problem! if you want update later the cpu :)
To me it will seem more or less the same as Ivy to Haswell in terms of chipsets. More SATA ports, etc. The noticable differences won't really come until next year with DDR4 and then in 2015 with PCI-e 4.
I'd wait for Haswell-E, better overall and a new chipset. As DOntUSASme said about DDR4 which would make it faster also. As far as PCIe 4 I don't think that is a big deal. The GTX Titan in SLI is the only thing that comes close to using all the bandwidth that PCIe 3 offers.
My rig - I7-4770K, ASUS Z87-A Mobo, 16 GB Corsair Ram, AMD 7990 GPU, CoolIT AiO Cooler, NZXT H630
