Do you hear that sound? It's the entire Internet, and especially console gamers, taking a collective sigh of relief after learning that Sony will not discriminate against used games. As boneheaded of a decision it would have been to not allow previously owned games to work on a next generation console, rumors persisted that Sony and Microsoft were entertaining the idea, and for all the fanfare during yesterday's PlayStation 4 launch event, Sony didn't touch the topic.

No worries though. Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony's Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., confirmed to Eurogamer that the PS4 will not block used games.

GameStop Games

Yoshida was a bit cagey when first presented with the question. "Do you want us to do that?," he asked Eurogamer. Naturally the answer was no. He then consulted with a translator for a refresher on Sony's official stance.

"[Consumers] purchase physical form, they want to use it everywhere, right? So that's my expectation," Yoshida said. "So, used games can play on PS4. How is that?"

That's fantastic, if not expected, but there was always that nagging feeling of doubt. Now that we know the PS4 will play used games, it seems even more likely that Microsoft will retain the same ability when it launches its Xbox 720 later this year. GameStop and company can commence celebrating.

Are we talking about the company that took that kid to court for putting linux on his PS2 after Sony randomly decided to not allow users do it anymore?

The same Sony that got hacked multiple times because of its bad rep?

I call BS! Few months after launch there will be a second ULA that pops up with fine print that sais if you try to use used games in the console it will explode and try to burn your house down.

I don't trust them either.

Dogs are great judges of character, and if your dog doesn't like somebody being around, you shouldn't trust them.

It would be pretty limiting for them as well to try and force that of users. Not surprising really that this never came to pass.

Noooooooo!!! Sony needs to jump on the no used games wagon so they we can see both Xbox and PS fail, see PC/Steam gaming take off, and most important of all watch GameStop crumble.
