I wouldn't necessarily say their attempting to force their customers to buy their product, I think what they are doing is necessary to push the console market forward. Without the integration of higher drive space, motion tracking, and better hardware, we'd still be stuck playing PS2.
On second thought, I did find FF8 and Chrono Cross in a box upstairs last weekend...
