For the last 11 years the ONLY PC case manufacturer that I've liked, owned (I've owned 3), and would buy again is Lian Li. The most gorgeous cases, one of the best materials, beauty in its simplicity, no stupid frills like plastic paneling, doesn't look like a shield or alien.
If it's not a cool easy to work on open air design, Lian Li is the only way to go.
I've only owned one lian-li case and that was back in 2006. By the time it was handed down to me, it must have been 2+ years old already, but I do remember it having some unique cooling features that no one else had at the time. For instance there was a vent that covered your power supply, so the heat from your PSU went directly out of the case, rather than floating around inside.
But, by the time I went to buy my next serious build I had been convince otherwise. Now i'm a huge Antec fan, but the stuff thermaltake is doing is really gaining my interest as well.
I've never liked anything from antec or thermaltake, big bulky, heavy use of plastics, silly themes, and lots of "extra" features that not always get used.
Lian Li makes straight to the point cases with features you actually need/use or it doesn't end up in the case just so the spec sheet sells the case. They also don't bundle power supplies which antec and them wouldn't do and many would have the stock psu laying around for years.
The only other case brand other than Lian li I've ever owned since I started building systems was a Silverstone all aluminum case that was identical to my Lian li's but with a thicket aluminum face with push open doors. It also cost a good amount more than my Lian li's.
SO MANY SEXY CASES COMING OUT.
I can't handle it...
If only Lian-Li's cases weren't $31986529783456
LOL OSunday I feel you! First I saw his then that interior of the NZXT and the open air limited edition Inwin cases it is making my head spin. And NONE of them are cheap!
It definitely seems like case makers are delivering, big time. Seems like there's a greater and greater gulf between the high end and "just OK" cases.
