I hope the discs came with install guides, because I wouldn't trust that most passersby would know what the heck to do with the disk. If you mention "partition" and they start running, it's probably not for them.
I tried Linux 3 times and it is ok, but everytime it tried to perform an auto update it would fail and crashed. after the 3rd try I gave up. I need something more reliable.

What? This is an issue? Do you not do research on a car before you buy it? I think anything like this is the consumers responsibility. Plus, didn't the surface have horrible sales figures anyway?
Why don't these fools ever 'protest' like this outside the apple stores. Apple is a far greater threat than MS as far as locking people into an ecosystem. As for linux, sure, its ecosystem is free and open and totally useless. BEtte they spend their time making THEIR platform just not suck so much than people might actually think about using it (which of course, for any serious stuff you can't without massive compromises and trouble).
