Windows 8 is expected to be a key player at CES 2013, despite the fact that Microsoft's severely lessening its presence at the show after this year. As the products and accessories begin to roll out, Amped Wireless is introducing what it calls the first high-power Wi-Fi adapter for Windows 8, enabling Win8-based tablets and notebooks to pack up to 3x the range and performance versus stock. The TAN1 connects to the USB port (standard or micro USB) of the device, requires no additional software set up and provides instant long range Wi-Fi connectivity. It'll ship in early 2013, but there are no pricing details to share at the moment. Of course, we're just weeks away from finding out...

Heh, what a good yet simple idea.  I've spent too much time wondering around a hotel room looking for the spot with the best signal.

Considering the pricing of 3G plans with cellular networks, wi-fi is really an optimal option for internet connectivity in terms of pricing but one of its biggest follies is that it limits where you can use a tablet to its full potential.

I wish they made devices like this for all tablets since it would improve the experience all around.

Hopefully something like this can get integrated into a case, and maybe even catch a signal through wifi and transmit it to the tablet or multiple devices through blutooth.

From what the picture shows although the device would be incredibly useful the fact it sticks off the tablet like that is a little bit awkward, and risks being snapped or broken off and requires snapping it on/off every time you took the tablet out to use it

Couldn't you technically hack up a wireless repeater and create this?
