Pong is 40 years old, and to celebrate the venerable video game, Atari is pulling out all the stops. First, there’s a new Pong game out for iOS called Pong World.

Pong World is intriguing because it began life as an entrant in the Pong Indie Developer Challenge. The game features four different environments and plenty of new features such as power ups, “paddle creatures”, and different game modes. It’s a free download, and you can get it from the App Store now.

Pong contest

A Pong game is...neat. But what is far cooler is a modded Xbox 360 that has an LCD stuck on it and looks like an Atari 2600 console. You can enter to win this nerdtastic gem via the Pong Challenge Facebook page.

All we ask is that if you win it, please invite us over to play it with you.

Bleep....Blooop.....Bleep......Bloop. Still cracks me up how amazed I was when I first played this. I thought "that's hit, we've hit a technological peak!" I was convinced that I could hit the ball with the corner of the paddle, and tried for the longest time to do this, to no avail. LONG LIVE PONG!

Nostalgia at its best. How many special Xbox's have they made now? It seems like a new one is out every week.

I wonder if Atari made this themself or had the legendary modder Ben Heck commisioned to make it for them?

Either way, that thing is full of retro nostalgic goodness... even for a person born in the 90's, a NES, and Atari were the only consoles I had access too at my Grandma's house when we went to visit since my parent's were initally the "video games melt your brain" types

^ Same here.

Long live NES ( And of course the nintendo 64)

I would love to win this, but I'm not going to enter because even if I did win, I wouldn't have enough time to really play it, nor the will. I don't favor consoles, even if it is a nostalgic masterpiece...

I'll let somebody else have some fun with it ;)
