Years ago, Internet Explorer became the Nickelback of web browsers, the one everyone loved to hate (and for good reason). There was a time when stellar alternatives to IE sprung up in the form of Firefox and Google’s Chome browser, and anyone still using Microsoft’s crummy old browser was considered a luddite or worse.

Wisecracking haters took every opportunity to take a shot at IE in forums, comments sections, and so on.

To Microsoft’s credit, the company hasn’t been afraid to admit past mistakes while working hard to rebuild trust in its products, and this video is a perfect illustration that at least they understand there's a bit of catching up to do.


You got us, Internet Explorer team; nice one.

lol that's pretty funny.... I've never given up on internet explorer. I've been working in IT for a long time now and have taken tons of ridicule for using IE lol But I still like IE and refuse to give it up.

I noticed that the kid's browser is pretty damned fast. I wonder which one he's using?

You know it's a PR video when all they do is virtual name-calling of people that dislike IE.  They don't mention any real facts, such as that it has a consistent track record for the most security vulnerabilities, performs the worst, and is the least HTML5 compliant of all the browsers.  Check it out for yourself:  http://html5test.com/results/desktop.html

The video shows they're listening (albeit to some stereotypical redditor who's jazzed about getting his 3-year badge...)  so maybe they'll come around to unsucking once their strategy on innovation isn't throwing a ton of money at the perception that they innovate concurrently rather than reactively.

Not likely. VUPEN's aready come up with an IE10/Win8 exploit, and sold it to god only knows who.
