2012 has been a banner year for both notebooks and desktops, in terms of design and innovation. It's not every holiday season that you get to swoon over a new Windows operating system and freshly designed hardware to go with it, but those in the market this winter will be treated with Windows 8 and some slick new machines should they choose to go that route. Whether it's for yourself or someone else, consider this your go-to guide for picking out the perfect notebook or desktop PC this holiday season. We're all about spreading the holiday cheer, and if it means sifting through dozens or even hundreds of machines to find the best ones, then so be it...
HH Holiday Gift Guide: Notebooks & Desktops
That HTPC looks pretty sexy. But I feel like anybody that would want that much performance, would also want some expandability/upgrades later. But I sure as hell wouldn't complain if someone got me this as a gift.
So what are your picks in the $500-800 range?
lol, I like first sentence on the M18,"If price is no object, and high frame rates are a necessity, this is your machine." So there went 80% of the gaming community on that one. Personally, I've never had long term success with laptops, the just seem to start "breaking down" as time goes, getting slower for no good reason. I'm with CDeeter on this one, whats the pick between $500-$800, that's about the max I would spend on a machine that I don't plan on being able to use in 3 years.
Btw that was a serious question, not busting on ya Ray. I'm planning on buy my daughter a new laptop for Christmas.
Right now it's between these two:
