Razer Revamps DeathAdder Mouse, Adds a 4G Sensor, Better Grips

The gaming peripheral gurus at Razer announced today the revamping of its popular DeathAdder mouse, though don't worry if you've grown accustomed to the original model, this isn't a complete redesign. Instead, Razer focused its efforts on upgrading the sensor and making the side grips more comfortable.

"We didn’t want to fix anything that wasn’t broken," said Robert Krakoff, president of Razer USA. "We focused instead on enhancing and optimizing the proven merits of the Razer DeathAdder, utilizing next generation technologies and further ergonomics tweaks to make a perfect gaming mouse even better."

Revamped Razer DeathAdder

So, what's changed? The new and improved DeathAdder now sports a 4G infrared sensor with better performance and precision. That's up from 3.5G in the original, which effectively bumps up the resolution to 6400 dpi.

Razer DeathAdder Side Grips

The revamped DeathAdder is still a right-handed rodent (there's also a left-handed version of the original), though it's been further enhanced with built-in textured rubber side grips for better mouse control and grip, Razer says. It also retains Synapse 2.0 support for easy syncing of settings and profiles to the cloud.

It's pretty nice that razer is incrementally upgrading their hardware to get better without huge price bumps (*Cough* Apple *Cough*) this works great for people new to purchasing hardware but at the same time sort of shafts people who own/bought earlier iterations of a product.

I'm sort of on the fence when it comes to incremental improvements but new product releases...

I also own a Razer Onza, and although there's a slight improvement over other laser mouses, it's really not that much so how much of an impact to these increases have?

Past a certain extent how much is gained from increase DPI in sensors and things like that?

I really like the NAGA and Deathadder, however, with their Synapse 2.0 stuff, I really don't think I'll be buying any Razer stuff anytime soon...

The only Razer device i would get is the Deathadder, had the mambo and its always dying on me and having problems with the battery. Didn't like their keyboards ether :( But the Deathadder is awesome.

Just sent my Naga out for replacement. I loved it but it broke. It took me 5 e-mails and 2 phone calls to 

Razer for them to send me a Rma! Love the products by them but rma when needed is a pain.
