Best Monitor to Get for an AMD APU A6-3620 System?

Looking into Getting a Newer Monitor, 20inch program or little bigger, max resolution 1600x900, Would that run my games great, without any lag or anything?  Current using a 1280  x 720 LCD monitor.     I'm sure i'll enjoy Windows 8 Metro Start menu better with the bigger Monitor,  Considering an HP monitor if I can afford one at Christmas, but I will see on that
